THE MERCHANT SHIPPING (COLONIES, ETC.) TONNAGE MEASUREMENT ORDER, 1956

the 29th day of June, 1956.

PRESENTS:

THE QUEEN'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

Her Majesty by virtue and in exercise of the powers by section two of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1954, section five of the Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1890, or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:-

1. The provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1954, with the exceptions, adaptations and modifications specified in the First Schedule to this Order, shall extend to the territories named in the Second Schedule to this Order.

2. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Colonies, etc.) Tonnage Measurement Order, 1956, and shall come into operation on the thirteenth day of July, 1956.

FIRST SCHEDULE

EXCEPTIONS, ADAPTATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS

1. For paragraph (b) of subsection (4) of section one there shall be substituted the following paragraph:-

"(b) if the owner has made a request in writing to that effect to a surveyor of ships, to any ship in respect of which the surveyor of ships is for the time being satisfied as mentioned in paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of this section."

2. Section two and subsection (3) of section three shall be omitted.
