Declaration for the
Temporary Ban of Electric Kettle

IN exercise of the powers conferred in me by Section 34 of the Trade Standards and Quality Control Decree No. 24 of 1992, I hereby declare the following electric kettle described in the schedule to be temporarily banned for a period of three months from when this notice is passed to allow the Minister to direct an investigation to determine whether the kettle should be declared dangerous goods.

Description of the Electric Kettle

The Electric Kettle is a clear see through plastic jug with a yellow, red or blue lid and a yellow, red or blue and clear plastic handle at the back of the plastic jug. The jug has yellow, blue, green and white flowers and contains the inscription "Yaxing Long" below the sprout closer to the handle.

The Electric Kettle contains no model number, no brand number. The heating object is located near to the plastic bottom and a black electric wire protrudes at the bottom of the handle.

The Electric Kettle does not have proper insulation or outer carriage to protect users, thus considering it highly unsafe, as there is a high risk of electric shock. There is also insufficient cross section and length of the supply cord wires.

The Electric Kettle does not comply with the low Voltage Directive and the relevant standards.
