AN ACT TO REPEAL THE BERETITENTI (IMMUNITIES FROM CIVIL PROCEEDINGS) ACT 1997

Commencement:
2003

MADE by the Maneaba ni Maungatabu and assented to by the Beretitenti.

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Beretitenti (Immunities from Civil Proceedings) (Repeal) Act 2003.

Repeal

2. The Beretitenti (Immunities from Civil Proceedings) Act 1997 is repealed.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This short Act seeks to repeal the Beretitenti (Immunities from Civil Proceedings) Act 1997 so that the Beretitenti will no longer be immune from any civil proceedings instituted against him in person while in office.
