(ORDINANCE NO 17 OF 1977)
THE MAGISTRATES' COURTS
(LAND APPEAL MAGISTRATES' SITTING FEES)
RULES 1980
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88 (o) of the Magistrates' Courts Ordinance, 1977, (hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance) the Chief Justice, after consultation with the Minister of Finance, hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1. These rules may be cited as the Magistrates' Courts (Land Appeal Magistrates Sitting Fees) Rules, 1980 and shall have been deemed to have come into force on 15th May 1980.
Land Appeal Magistrates fee
2. Every Magistrate whose name appears on the Land Magistrates' Panel established under section 76(2) of the principal Ordinance, who has been selected to sit and hear appeals to the High Court under the provisions of sections 75 and 76 of the principal Ordinance, and who so sits and hears any such appeal be entitled to received a sitting fee not exceeding $10 for each day or part of a day on which he so sits.
Discretion of Chief Justice
3. The Chief Justice shall have the sole discretion to decide what constitutes sitting and hearing an appeal with in the meaning of these Regulations and his decision shall be final.
