A BILL FOR AN ACT

To increase the salary of all civil service government employees by $25 biweekly, and for other related purposes.

THE PEOPLE OF PALAU REPRESENTED IN THE OLBIIL ERA KELULAU DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Legislative Findings. The Olbiil Era Kelulau finds that it will be necessary to implement a pay increase for civil servants of the national government in order to keep pace with the minimum wage as gradual increases to the minimum wage take effect. This bill implements, beginning on October 1, 2015, a $25 biweekly salary increase for every civil servant that will ensure that all civil servants are paid at least the minimum wage.

Section 2. Amendment. 33 PNC § 702 is hereby amended to state as follows:

"§ 702. Base salary schedule.

(a) The base salary schedule appearing in the table below provides the official annual salary rates which shall be paid to all civil service and contract employees of the National Government unless otherwise specifically established by law. Hourly rates shall be calculated by dividing the applicable annual salary level and dividing by two thousand eighty (being forty hours per week for fifty-two weeks in a year) and rounded to the nearest tenth of a dollar.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Act takes effect on October 1, 2015, except as otherwise provided by law.
