AN ACT

To amend the Uniform Compensation Act in accordance with Article IX, Section 8 of the Constitution, as amended by the People of the Republic of Palau in the 2008 general election.

THE PEOPLE OF PALAU REPRESENTED IN THE OLBIIL ERA KELULAU DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Legislative Findings. The Olbiil Era Kelulau fords that by affirmatively voting in favor of Constitutional Proposal 2-257, the voters of the Republic chose to change the manner in which the members of the Eighth Olbiil Era Kelulau are compensated from a fee-per-session type of compensation. The amendment to the Constitution provides that compensation for the members of the Eighth Olbiil Era Kelulau shall be a salary, rather than a uniform fee per session attended. This Act is intended to amend 3 PNC ' 201 in order to modify the compensation structure for the Olbiil Era Kelulau in accordance with the constitutional amendment.

Section 2. Amendment. Chapter 2 of Title 3 of the Palau National Code, as amended by RPPL No. 7-52, is hereby amended as follows:

' 201. Annual salary established.

Salary authorized.

(1) Each member of the Olbiil Era Kelulau shall receive a salary of $50,000 per year. This compensation shall be paid according to rules and procedures to be promulgated by the Olbiil Era Kelulau. Payments shall be made bi-weekly on regular government paydays.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Act shall take effect upon its approval by the President of the Republic of Palau, or upon it becoming law without such approval.
