No. 11 of 1953AN ACT TO REGULATE THE OWNERSHIP OF STALLIONS
[27th January, 1954]
This Act may be cited as the Stallions Act.
No person shall own or have in his possession or care any stallion over the age of one year without a permit in writing issued by the Minister of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries containing such conditions as the Minister of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries shall think fit.
Every owner of a stallion shall on or before the thirtieth day of June in each year pay to the tax clerk a tax to be known as stallion tax at the rate of $2 per year provided that the Minister of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries may exempt any owner from payment of such tax.
Any person contravening the provisions of this Act, or failing to comply with the conditions of any permit as aforesaid, shall upon conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding $40 and in default of payment thereof to imprisonment for any term not exceeding 3 months.
