INTERPRETATION (AMENDMENT) ACT 1994

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE INTERPRETATION ACT

[1st June, 1994.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as The Interpretation (Amendment) Act 1994.

(2) The Interpretation Act (Cap. 1) is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3) This Act shall come into effect on 1 July 1994.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following as subsections (9) and (10):

"(9) The styles "Minister of Marine" and "Minister responsible for the Ports Administration Department" wherever they appear in any Act (including this Act) or in any official Government writing, are omitted and the style "Minister of Marine and Ports inserted in their stead; and a reference in that Act or official government writing to "Minister of Marine" or "Minister responsible for the Ports Administration Department" shall be read and construed as a reference to "Minister of Marine and Ports".

"(10) The styles "Director of Marine", "Chief Harbour Master" and "Harbour Master" wherever they appear in any Act (including this Act) or in any official Government writing, are omitted and the style "Secretary for Marine and Ports" inserted in their stead; and a reference in that Act or official government writing to "Secretary for Marine", "Chief Harbour Master" or "Harbour Master" shall be read and construed as a reference to "Secretary for Marine and Ports".

(3) Kuo pau ke kamata ngaue'aki 'a e Lao ni 'i he 'aho 1 'o Siulai 1994.

2. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 2 'o e Tefito 'i Lao 'aki hono fakahu atu 'eni ko e Kupu (9) mo e (10):

"(9) Ko e ongo hingoa ko e "Minisita 'o e Malini" mo e Minisita 'oku ne tokanga'i 'a e Potungaue Pule'i 'o e Ngaahi Taulanga" 'i he feitu'u kotoa 'oku na 'asi ai 'i ha fa'ahinga Lao (kau fakataha ai mo e Lao ni) pe 'i ha fa'ahinga tohi faka-Pule'anga, 'oku tamate'i kinaua pea ko e hingoa "Minisita 'o e Malini mo e Ngaahi Taulanga" 'oku fakahu atu is 'i hona tu'unga; pea ko ha lave 'i he Lao ko is pe tohi faka-Pule'anga ki he "Minisita 'o e Malini" pe "Minisita 'oku ne tokanga'i 'a e Potungaue Pule'i 'o e Ngaahi Taulanga" kuo pau ke lau mo faka'uhinga'i ko e lave is ki he Minisita 'o e Malini mo e Ngaahi Taulanga".
