INTOXICATING LIQUOR (AMENDMENT) ACT 1989

AN ACT TO AMEND THE INTOXICATING LIQUOR ACT

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:
1. This Act may be cited as the Intoxicating Liquor (Amendment) Act 1989. The Intoxicating Liquor Act (Cap. 123), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "liquor permit" and definition thereof.
3. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "any customs officer to issue to any person" and replaced with words "the issue to any person of.
4. Section 4 (4) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "to the Customs officer of and replaced with the word "in".
5. Section 11 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting between the words "intoxicating liquor" and "in quantities" the words "therein specified".
6. Section 33 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "one pound" and replaced with the words "one hundred pa'angas".
7. Section 74 to 91 of the Principal Act are repealed.
8. Section 92(1) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "to whom a permit has been issued under section eighty-one of this Act".
9. Section 99 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "or any person to whom a permit has not been issued under section eighty-one of this Act".
10. The Fifth Schedule of the Principal Act is repealed.
