AN ACT TO AMEND THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ACT

I assent,

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Act 1997.

(2) The Legislative Assembly Act (Cap 4), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2(3) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the words "at a reasonable time before the duration of the Assembly would ordinarily terminate" and substituting therefor the words "within the first 6 months of the next calendar year".

Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 15 day of September, 1997.
