POLICE (AMENDMENT) ACT 2008

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE POLICE ACT
BE IT ENACTED by the King and the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Police (Amendment) Act 2008.
(2) The Police Act (Cap. 35), as amended, is hereby referred to as the Principal Act.
2. Section 16 of the Principal Act is deleted and replaced with the following –
"16.Prolongation of service
All police officers shall retire at 60 years provided that police officers aged between 50 and 54 years at the commencement of the Police (Amendment) Act 2008 may retire at 55 years."
Passed in the Legislative Assembly this 28th day of October, 2008.
