AN ACT
TO AMEND THE PUBLIC HEALTH ACT

[17^th August, 1989.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (i) This Act may be cited as the Public Health (Amendment) Act 1989.

(ii) The Public Health Act (Chapter 48), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by adding after the word "yaws" in the definition of "contagious diseases" the following words:

"Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection – 1 (HIV-1). Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and AIDS Related Complex (ARC)".
