AN ACT TO AMEND THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ACT (CAP. 51)

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:
1 Short Title
(1) This Act may be cited as the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2013.
(2) In this Act the Public Holidays Act (Cap. 51), as amended, is referred to as the Principal Act.
2 Section 2 amended
Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended:
(a) in the proviso by:
(i) deleting the word "and" after "Easter Monday" and replacing it with ","; and
(ii) inserting after the words "ANZAC Day," the words "Birthday of the reigning Sovereign of Tonga and Birthday of the Heir to the Crown of Tonga,"; and
(b) by inserting immediately after the proviso the following:
"Further provided that the Birthday of the reigning Sovereign of Tonga and the Birthday of the Heir to the Crown of Tonga shall be celebrated on the day it falls, unless it falls on a Sunday in which case it would be celebrated on the next following Monday."
Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 20th day of June 2013.
