POST OFFICE (AMENDMENT) ACT 1993

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE POST OFFICE ACT

[1st November, 1993.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as The Post Office (Amendment) Act 1993.

(2) The Post Office Act (Cap. 95) is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Sections 4, 9, 10, 12, 19, 20, 24 and 27 of the Principal Act are amended by deleting the figure "$100" wherever it appears and substituting therefor the figure "$1000".

3. Sections 16 and 30 of the Principal Act are amended by deleting the figure "$10" wherever it appears and substituting therefor the figure "$100".

4. Section 13 of the Principal Act is amended -

(i) by inserting after the words "coasting vessel" the words "upon notice in writing specifying the volume of the mail involved, of not less than 3 hours and delivery thereof of not less than 2 hours prior to the departure of such vessel";

(ii) by deleting the words "free of charge" and substituting therefor the words "upon tender of remuneration for such conveyance at a rate fixed by the Controller with the consent of Privy Council";

(iii) by deleting the figure "$20" and substituting therefor the figure "$200".

5. Section 14 of the Principal Act is repealed.

6. Section 25 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure "$50" and substituting therefor the figure "$500".

7. Section 31 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the figure "$40" and substituting therefor the figure "$400".

2. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 4, 9, 10, 12, 19, 20, 24 mo e 27 'o e Tefito 'i Lao 'aki hono tamate 'i 'a e fika "$100" 'i ha feitu 'u pe 'oku has ai kae fetongi 'aki is 'a e fika "$1000".

3. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e kupu 16 mo e 30 'o e Tefito 'i Lao 'aki hono tamate'i 'a e fika "$10" 'i ha feitu'u pe 'oku has ai kae fetongi 'aki is 'a e fika "$100".

4. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e kupu 13 'o e Tefito'i Lao -

6. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 25 'o e Tefito'i Lao 'aki hono tamate'i 'a e fika "$50" kae fetongi 'aki is 'a e fika "$500".

7. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 31 'o e Tefito'i Lao 'aki hono tamate'i 'a e fika "$40" kae fetongi 'aki is 'a e fika "$400".
