TONGA ELECTRIC POWER BOARD (AMENDMENT) ACT 2000

AN ACT TO AMEND THE TONGA ELECTRIC POWER BOARD ACT

I assent,

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:-

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Tonga Electric Power Board (Amendment) Act 2000.

(2) The Tonga Electric Power Board Act (Cap. 93) is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following new subsection after subsection (1):

"(1A) The members of the Board who are not ex officio members shall hold office for 3 years and shall be eligible for reappointment".

3. The Principal Act is amended by inserting the following new section after section 30:

"30A Dividend

At the end of each year the Board shall declare a dividend to be paid out of net profit to the Government".

Passed in the Legislative Assembly this 21 day of September, 2000.
