TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2000

TRAFFIC ACT (CAP. 156)
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 40 of the Traffic Act (Cap. 156), as amended, the Principal Licensing Authority with the consent of Cabinet, makes the following Regulation:
1.
(1). These Regulation may be cited as the Traffic (Amendment) Regulations 2000.
(2). The Traffic Regulations are referred to in these Regulations as the Prinicipal Regulations (Cap. 156)
2. The Principal Regulations are amended by the addition of the following sub-regulations to Regulation 5-
"(3). The owner of a motor vehicle shall within 7 days after the registering of a motor vehicle and paying the prescribed fee set out in the Fourth Schedule, affix the registration number plates issued to him by the Principal Licensing Authority, containing the registration number to the vehicle.
(4). Where the figures on a registration number plate become defaced so that a number is no longer visible, or where the number plate is damaged or lost, the owner of the motor vehicle shall notify the Principal Licensing Authority.
(5). The owner shall be supplied with a new set of registration number plates and shall pay the fee prescribed in the Fourth Schedule.
(6). The owner shall affix the new set of registration number plates to the vehicle within 7 days.
(7). The owner of a vehicle commits an offence if he uses any other registration number plate on his vehicle or permits any other registration number to be fixed to his vehicle.
(8)
(a). Any person may make application to the Principal Licensing Authority for one or more sets of special registration number plates.
(b). Every application for special registration number plates shall be accompanied by the fee prescribed in the Fourth Schedule and upon receiving the application and fee the Principal Licensing Authority may, if satisfied the application is in order, issue the special registration number plates.
(c). The special registration number plates shall be in such size and form as the Principal Licensing Authority shall direct."
3. The Fourth Schedule of the Principal Regulations is replaced by the following Schedule-
