RELIGIOUS BODIES REGISTRATION ORDER

CAP. 54.15.1

MADE UNDER SECTION 9 OF THE RELIGIOUS BODIES REGISTRATION ACT ¹

Commencement [1st January 2006]

1 Short title

This Order may be cited as the Religious Bodies Registration Order.

2 Interpretation

For the purpose of this Order unless otherwise specified — "Act" means the Religious Bodies Registration Act;2 "census" means the current census of the population of Tuvalu made in accordance with the Census Act.3

3 Application

The Minister hereby specifies that the number of persons of the age of 18 years and above required to constitute a religious body, within the meaning of section 2 of the Act, shall not be less than two per cent of the total population of Tuvalu at the last census.

4 Exemption

For the avoidance of doubt the religious bodies already registered under the Act are exempt from this Order.
