MATNAKARA WATER PROTECTION ZONE
(TAGABE RIVER)

1. Declaration of Matnakara Water Protection Zone

(1) The areas marked on the map that is attached to this instrument are declared as the Matnakara Water Protection Zone.

(2) The Matnakara Water Protection Zone is divided into Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3.

2. Purposes for the declared Zone

The purposes for which the Matnakara Water Protection Zone is declared are:

(a) to protect the quality and quantity of the Tagabe river as the only current water source for Port Vila, and the nearby settlements; and

(b) to create a sustainable multi-purpose land use management water catchment model to be replicated in other watersheds in Vanuatu.
