Prohibition on the Importation of Certain Sands and Gravels

PROHIBITION ON THE IMPORTATION OF CERTAIN SANDS AND GRAVELS

Import prohibition
(1) The following substances are prohibited from importation into Vanuatu for a period of 5 years:


(a) silica sands and quartz sands (tariff item 2505.1000);


(b) other sands (tariff item 2505.9000);


(c) pebbles, gravel, broken or crushed stone, of a kind commonly used for concrete aggregates, for road metalling or for railway or other ballast, shingle and flint, whether or not heat-treated (tariff item 2517.1000).


(2) A reference to a tariff item in subclause (1) is a reference to the tariff item listed in the Harmonized System in Schedule 1 to the Import Duties (Consolidation) Act [Cap. 91].


2. Exception
Despite section 1, specialized sand and pool salt may be imported into Vanuatu.
