INTERPRETATION (AMENDMENT) ACT
NO. 21 OF 2009

An Act to amend the Interpretation Act [CAP 132].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendment

The Interpretation Act [CAP 132] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF INTERPRETATION ACT [CAP 132]

1. Schedule (definition of “document”)

Repeal the definition substitute

“document” means any publication and any matter written, expressed or described upon any substance or capable of being so written, expressed or described with or without the aid of a computer or other device, by means of letters, characters, figures, images, sounds or marks, or by more than one of those means;”

2. Schedule

After the definition of “export” insert

“false” means contrary to fact or misleading in a material particular, including by omission;”
