LAND REFORM (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 1 OF 2017

An Act to amend the Land Reform Act [CAP 123].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendments

The Land Reform Act [CAP 123] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF LAND REFORM ACT [CAP 123]

1. Paragraphs 8A(2)(e), (f) and (g)

Repeal the paragraphs, substitute

“(e) the Director of the Department of Geohazards, or his or her senior representative; and

(f) a Senior Planner from the Physical Planning Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs appointed by the Minister of Internal Affairs.”

2. After subsection 8A(2)

Insert

“(2A) If the Committee is to consider an application relating to land that is located in a Province or Municipality, the Senior Planner of the relevant Provincial Government Council or Municipal Council, is to be present at that Committee meeting, whenever required to do so.”
