MUNICIPALITIES (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 29 OF 2014

An Act to amend the Municipalities Act [CAP 126].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendment
   

The Municipalities Act [CAP 126] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement
   

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF MUNICIPALITIES ACT [CAP 126]

1. At the end of section 6
   

Insert

“6A Ward for contesting

A person may only contest as a candidate in a Municipal election, in the ward in which he or she is registered to vote in.”

2. Subsection 7(2)
   

Delete “Minister” substitute “Electoral Commission”
