PUBLIC PROSECUTOR (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 8 OF 2008

An Act to amend the Public Prosecutor Act [CAP 293].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows:

1 Amendment

The Public Prosecutor Act [CAP 293] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR ACT [CAP 293]

1 References to Assistant Public Prosecutors and State Prosecutors

Delete "Assistant Public Prosecutors" and "Assistant Public Prosecutor"(wherever occurring in this Act), substitute "State Prosecutors" and "State Prosecutor"
Delete "State Prosecutors" and "State Prosecutor"(wherever occurring in this Act), substitute "Assistant State Prosecutors" and "Assistant State Prosecutor"

2 Subsection 20 (4)

Repeal the subsection.

3 Paragraph 22(1)(c)

After "practitioner;" insert "or

(d) a person who:

(i) has a certificate in criminal law from a recognized tertiary institution or similar qualification; or

(ii) has undertaken courses in criminal law at a recognized tertiary institution;"

4 Section 29A

Repeal the section.

5 Section 29B

Repeal the section.
