PASSPORTS REGULATION (AMENDMENT) ACT

No. 3 OF 1987

Arrangement of Sections

1. Amendment of the Passports Regulation No.11 of 1980.
2. Commencement.

An Act to amend the Passports Regulation No.11 of 1980.

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

1. AMENDMENT OF THE PASSPORTS REGULATION NO.11 OF 1980

Section 1 of the Passports Regulation No.11 of 1980 is amended as follows:-

(a) In section 1 by deleting the definition of "Principal Passport Officer" and substituting therefor the following new definition -

• '"Principal Passport Officer" means the Principal Passport Officer appointed under section 1A or any other immigration officer or other officer acting under the authority of the Principal Passport Officer.'

(b) By inserting the following new section immediately after section 1:-
"APPOINTMENT OF PRINCIPAL PASSPORT OFFICER
1A The Minister shall appoint in writing a person as he may think fit to be the Principal Passport Officer who shall be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Principal Passport Officer under this Regulation."

2. COMMENCEMENT

This Act shall come into force on the date of publication in the Gazette.
