GENERAL WAGE INCREASE (PUBLIC OFFICEHOLDERS AND PUBLIC SERVANTS) ACT 2001

AN ACT to provide for a General Wage Increase for Public Officeholders and Public Servants.
[Assent date: 24 January 2001]
[Commencement date: 1 January 2001]
BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in Parliament assembled as follows:
1. Short title and commencement – (1) This Act may be cited as the General Wage Increase (Public Officeholders and Public Servants) Act 2001.
(2) This Act comes into force on 1 January 2001.
2. Increase in Wage or Salary for Public Officeholders and Public Servants – (1) Despite any other Act, Regulation, Order or Direction, the wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, for each Public Officeholder
and Public Servant referred to in the Schedule is to be increased by 5% from 1 January 2001.
(2) If, in an Act, Regulation, Order or Direction, the wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, for the Officeholders and Public
Servants referred to in the Schedule is identified as a nominated amount the relevant Act, Regulation, Order or Direction is amended
accordingly so that the nominated wage or salary or remuneration, as the case may be, is increased by 5%.
(3) For the purpose of avoiding any uncertainty the 5% increase referred to in subsection (1) does not apply to any allowances or other
supplemental payments.

REVISION NOTES 2008 – 2019
This is the official version of this Act as at 31 December 2019.
This Act has been revised by the Legislative Drafting Division from 2008 to 2019 respectively under the authority of the Attorney
General given under the Revision and Publication of Laws Act 2008.
The following general revisions have been made:
(a) Amendments have been made to conform to modern drafting styles and to use modern language as applied in the laws of Samoa.
(b) Amendments have been made to up-date references to offices, officers and statutes.
(c) Insertion of the commencement date
(d) Other minor editing has been done in accordance with the lawful powers of the Attorney General.
The empowering provision for the Schedule has been inserted.
The following amendment was made to this Act by the Audit Act 2013, No.22:
Clause 8 of the Schedule substituted
